With the Crusade fleets heading for planet 140.20, some Eldar pirates took advantage and launched a surprise raid on a small outlying fleet.
The fleet of the 63rd expedition have encountered an untouched world, designated 63.24 an have sent an advance party to scout out the sector.
The Eldar, however, have other plans for their Maiden World and will protect it at all costs.
Can the Imperial fleet withstand the lightning raid from the Xenos threat?
This will be for many of us our first foray into BFG. Lets see what happens...
The battle lines were drawn up and unluckily for the Eldar the majority of their fleet was positioned close to and facing away from the advancing imperial fleet.
With the Imperials getting first turn, they launched a full assault on the main Capital ship of the Eldar Corsairs, the Void Walker Khaine's Fury, tearing its Solar sails and crippling it, preventing movement of this sleek vessel in the Ordnance phase.
The rest of the imperial fleet moved up in line.
In return the fast eldar advanced on the right, firing lances from the Shadow class and Hemlock crusiers who all had Lock on and took apart the bridge of the Murder class Imperial cruiser The Intrepid. (We used the Chaos fleets as they would have been the same in the Heresy era)
In the Ordnance phase the eldar split left and right to avoid the imperial fleet's advance in Turn 2. The Shadow cruiser launched some fighters and bombers to deter any advance.
The Intrepidand her sister Styx class cruiser The Might of Cthonia pursued the Shadow crusier and her escort, gunning down 2 Hemlocks and damaging the engines on the Shadow, reducing movement.
Khaine's Fury took yet more hits but most were absorbed by the Holo Fields. The Stalker class now had to roll to be able to turn while moving or suffer more structural damage.
In reply she launched more fighters and bombers in an attempt to fend off the 3 Hunter class cruiers coming towards her. Theyinstead focused their attention on the Eclipse class cruier, Asur's Blade destroying it.
This left the way clear for the rest of the fleet to advance into low orbit around the maiden world.
With the fleet mopping up the rest of the defenders, the assault on the planet could begin...
Result: Win for the Imperials
