Zehrov The Turncoat
With Hive Prime in the hands of the Orks, Zehrov decided to consolidate what little power he had left and with the aid of the splinter section of his Mechanicum declared himself ruler of Veribas, overthrew local government and has rejected the rule of The Emperor!
The Blood Angels contingent of the 41st Crusade will have something to say about this...
The battle opened with the Baal predators revving their engines and securing the objective on their left flank. Commander Zehrov knew this was his last cjance and ordered a bombardment of the Blood Angels Command section, hoping to break the spirit of the opposition. Despite the casualties suffered the Blood Angels were undeterred and launched a ground attack on the waiting Leman Russ formation.
Flying through Flak the Thunderhawk touched down, unleashing its deadly cargo of assault and devastator marines. Unfortunately the reinforced armour of the tanks repelled all but the most powerful attacks and the assault was repelled, the marines cut down to a man and the Thunderhawk landing craft destroyed by the treacherous guard.
The White shields advanced through the ruins on the left to secure 1 objective and prepare for an assault on the one held by the predators. The Baneblade Super Heavy formation advanced with the white shields and opened fire on the preds, killing 2 and supressing their firepower.
The Supreme Commander's Tactical formation raced to secure a forward cover position, their Razorback transports providing covering fire. In response the Reaver titan Pride of the Emperor, advanced into the city ruins and opened up on the Tactical formation, leaving only the Supreme commander left.
The Blood Angel Commander, recognising the importance of silencing the Eartshakers, ordered a strike attack from the Imperial Navy. 2 Thunderbolts answered the call, diving between skyscrapers and dancing round flak bubbles to launch their payloads into their targets. 1 Earthshaker fell and the remaining 2 were supressed, taking the unit out of the game. In response Zehrov advanced into the ruins and fired upon his Nemesis. Despite a lot of firepower coming his way, the commander made all his saves only losing a razorback transport.
In retaliation he called down another ground attack from the second Thunderhawk. With intense fighting and support from a number of units the combat lasted 2 rounds, leaving Zehrov running for his life and a single unit of Devastators to consolidate.
The Russes, broken from the first round were fired upon by the Land Speeders and broke.
The Baneblades opened up on the other land speeders and destroyed them utterly before they could do any damage. The white shields continued rolling up the left flank and took out another predator.
2 units of Terminators were called down to break the back of the traitors, the first landed at the Traitors Blitz objective and assaulted the fleeing Russes along with the remainder of the Zehrov's cohort. With a pincer assault from the bikers the guard could hardly hold up the Blood Angels.
The Baneblades and Reaver turned on their heal to lend their weight to the fight but could not penetrate the mighty Tactical Dreadnoughts.
With only the white shields remaining on the left flank, the Blood Angels advanced on them and reaped a heavy toll for their insolance.
The rebellion was over.
Result: Victory for the Marines
